Trend Alert: Men In Tights

I'd say I'm pretty open minded when it comes to fashion. I can get swept away by the weird and wonderful designs of Tokyo Street Fashion, be blown away by colors and inspired by quirky trends, BUT the latest trend coming straight from the streets of NYC has me cringing!

Meggings! What are they? Well, they are simply leggings for men, but the trend setters of the world had to give them a name so Meggings it is! This trend has hit NYC hard and fast and is apparently making it's way across the pond to the UK. Meggings have pretty much evolved from the skinny jeans for men, which was a huge trend a few years back. Russell Brand was a huge lover of the skinny jean and is now fully backing the Megging!

Having seen some photographs of this trend, I can say that I'm seriously unimpressed. I've seen plenty of men in tights. I went to a Ballet school and it was standard uniform, but I don't ever recall the men wanting to parade their tights around like it was super fashionable. I guess I can see a certain appeal for this item of clothing. The comfort factor, but is that enough of a reason to go out and buy a pair of Meggings? I mean, where would you put your wallet? Without sounding completely old fashioned, I have to say that I like my men to look like men! I don't want to walk out of the house wearing matching leggings, jeggings or meggings! I don't find them flattering on the male body at all and if Justin Bieber is apparently setting this trend off, then I certainly wouldn't want any men taking fashion tips from him.
